About W.E.I.R.D Girl Mentoring
W.E.I.R.D Girl Mentoring is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Philadelphia, PA. The organization was started in TK by Arnetta Williams, who is a community leader and mentor. The organization offers programing and lessons for young girls outside of the classroom to improve their confidence, give them support through their schooling, and set them up for a successful future. Arnetta helps the girls explore their interests, learn about future career paths, and provide support to be their best selves. W.E.I.R.D Girl is changing the perception of the word WEIRD by helping girls discover their true authentic identity.
The program is split into two age groups. Our younger girls are ages 8 to 12 and our older girls are 13 to 18. The girls meet with Arnetta weekly to discuss their school and home lives. Programming for the girls includes poem writing competitions, improving public speaking and confidence, and going on field trips to different cities, including a STEM camp. W.E.I.R.D Girl encourages and supports girls in their journeys to become their best and most authentic selves.
